It happens here

Here were I work, though its an industry institution and its not for profit (not non-profit) is into various kind of social-responsibility activities.

Some of which has taken by breath away, i am amazed and astonished as a human being and feel my loyality towards my employer increased as and employee.

I hope you are aware of the concept of Carbon Footprints (if not google it buddy, trust me its worth it), companies like ITC, DLF are into it big time (you can't even imagine), my current organisation also plays it part by promoting its members to follow the same, it has an office by the name of Green Business Centre which is made in such a way that its all natural energy which it uses, use of the plain side of waste prints to take out prints etc.
All these kind of activities or initiatives makes me feel a proud Indian, and this is just a drop of water in the pond, there are are endless activities which it carries out. But thats not something I am writing this for, there is more to it.

So with a sip of my hot piping coffee (custom made & delievered to my seat) here we go.

Being an industry organisation we hire people form all sectors/ strata of population as a part of its social responsibility initiatives, one of them, actually there are couple of them whom I know, but I work with one of them as she is part of the team that I am in.

Well she is a special one, specially abled, when ever I see her it motivates me to the very root of my existence. Even though she cannot speak or hear, but is full of life, I learnt from my other peers that she is an excellent dancer and an awesome painter. Something which leaves me amazed, astonished. She made me learn how to say good morning in her style and made me say just WOW !!!

I was confused whether i should mention her without her permission thus decided not to mention her name and I was awestruck that I could not hold it longer. She is one example of positivity and self-starter and oozes with enthusiasm, not dethered with what she not has, always focuses on and looks forward for more, this attitude makes me feel incompitent and in a strange way makes me motivated.

Once my current boss said and i quote "God has not been fair to them, at least we as organisations can be fair and do our bit", hell of a thought huh !!!.

Would like to end on this and a wishful thinking to be even more prouder  if more and more companies can be "FAIR" and do their bit.

Appreciation - A Desire

One of the deepest desires of human beings is the desire to be appreciated. The feeling of being unwanted is hurtful. Sincere appreciation is one of the greatest gifts on can give to another person. It makes a person feel important. It can be a great motivator. The desire to feel important is one of the greatest cravings of any human being.

A lesson that bosses of today need to learn and appreciate it as a matter of fact.

Think about this for a minute. When you, as a business head, hire someone to do a job, and delegate the responsibility to make business decisions, you must trust this person that he/she will make the right choices in the best interest of the company. However, if you hire someone in a managing role and then undermine each and every decision made, you are ultimately setting this person up for failure.

The idea should be to allow room to explore new options, to make decisions within certain boundaries, to suggest improvements, to spread their wings and to ultimately, feel like they are respected in their role.

One needs to forget flattery, give honest, sincere appreciation. The difference between apprication and flattery is sincerity. Appreciation must be specific, immediate, and sincere.

By books if you ask the conventional definition of management is getting work done through people, but real management is developing people through work.

I apologize if you find it very heavy duty, but the thing  is we fail to Enjoy the Coffee with peers !!!

Enjoy the coffee

I read it somewhere and cant hold it back. Wanted to share, so here it goes -

"A group of alumini, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor, Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you will notice, all the nice looking and expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other's cups. The source of your problems and stress is that you want only the best for yourselves. Remember, if life is coffee, then the jobes, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, but the quality of Life doesn;t change. "Sometimes by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee in it."

The bottomline is that GOD makes the coffee and man chooses the cups. Life is about finding out about right and wrong, trying and failing, wining and losing. Failure should not hinder us from becoming happy.

Finding happiness is like finding yourself. You don't find happiness, you make happiness. You choose happiness.
